Press release from the Petersen campaign:

The Austin Petersen presidential campaign is excited to announce that top political adviser and former key Ron Paul staffer, Rachel Mills has joined the team as press director.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Austin and shaking up presidential politics in the coming months,” said Mills of her new position.

Mills was Congressman Ron Paul’s congressional communications director from 2007-2012 and brings her unique perspective on the inner workings of DC, politics, the media, and the liberty movement to the campaign. She was campaign manager for Sean Haugh Libertarian for US Senate in 2014 – one of the most audaciously successful and talked about LP campaigns of that cycle. She has consulted for numerous campaigns and activist projects and hosts the podcast “Politics After Dark.”

When asked why she agreed to get onboard with the Petersen campaign, Mills did not hesitate.

“Austin is a longtime friend and fellow traveler in the liberty movement. One of the most appealing things about him as a candidate is his comfort level and understanding of the media. The big challenge with Libertarian candidates is messaging and reaching a wider audience. Austin knows how to do that. He is an absolute ninja at joining the national conversation, whatever that is, and doing it in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. Libertarians have to reach more people. That is job number one. Suing your way into that conversation is not good strategy, in my opinion. You have to find better ways, and Austin is a genius at that. I think he’s going to provide a lot of good stories for reporters to cover.”

Said Petersen of Mills, “Rachel Mills is an outstanding communications professional. Her experience combined with her zeal for our cause is guaranteed to help us build the momentum we need in order to win the Libertarian Party’s nomination for President of the United States.”
