(The following was a press release by the Austin Petersen for president campaign.)
KANSAS CITY, KS – Last night presidential contenders Bernie Sanders (D) and Donald Trump (R) won the caucus in New Hampshire by nearly 20 percentage points per candidate. Libertarian Party presidential candidate Austin Petersen praised the delegates of NH, and thanked them for helping to set up a more successful run for the Libertarian Party in 2016 by saying, “This is amazing. This couldn’t be any better for libertarians.”
Petersen explained his support for the Sanders/Trump win in a livestream (see below) after the caucus results were posted. “The Republican Party is setting themselves up for a Libertarian presidency. Because there’s really only one candidate on the Republican ticket that has the chance of stopping me if I win the Libertarian nomination, and it’s Marco Rubio. I want Donald Trump.”
Taking a strategic look at the race, Petersen supports only the candidacy of Sanders and Trump of course, not policy. He says, “We want Trump vs. Bernie so bad. For the first time, the Libertarian Party candidate is the sane candidate alternative to the two major parties. And at the middle, where the independent voters lie, the thinking people lie, where the majority of voters lie… are the libertarians.”
