Libertarians are not given many chances to bring our message to a national audience. It’s a major part of the reason why the vast majority of the public doesn’t even know what a libertarian is. If they don’t know what we represent they could never hope to vote for us. Bridging that information gap should be the number one priority of every Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate. Unfortunately, one candidate has forgone a massive opportunity to do just that. Gary Johnson recently refused to participate in a nationally televised debate hosted by John Stossel on the FOX Business Network. That begs the question; is Gary Johnson afraid of debating Austin Petersen and John McAfee?
If Gary Johnson truly wants to get the 5% of the vote the Libertarian Party needs to win ballot access and Federal funding he’s going to have to take his message to the mass market. There’s no better opportunity than national television and especially the FOX Business Network which is targeted to libertarians and conservatives.
