Austin Petersen, a candidate for the Libertarian Party presidential nomination, released a Facebook video today entitled “Does The Libertarian Party Force You To Pledge To the NAP? No. Here’s why…”. (NAP is the Non-Aggression Principle, which states that no force or fraud may be used to achieve social or political goals. The video runs 7 minutes and is available here.

Petersen also released a video earlier today, encouraging former Marco Rubio supporters to join his campaign. That 13 minute video is available here.

One response to “Austin Petersen: Does The Libertian Libertarian Party Force You To Pledge To the NAP?

  1. Is there a written transcript of this video? My reason for asking is that, in it, Petersen makes the strange claim that the LP membership oath he signed (“I certify that I oppose the initiation of force to achieve political or social goals.”) is not the ‘real’ Non-Aggression Principle (NAP). Rather, he claims the party has a real NAP, somewhere in its platform or policies, that says something like: “Parents have the right to starve their children”; and that’s the NAP to which he’s objecting. That’s nonsense, of course: there’s no such claim in any party documents. I’ve alreay challenged him to produce one, to silence so far; but I would rather quote him accurately than just paraphrase; so I would like to see the claims he made, in the above video, in writing.
