Augustus Invictus is a Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate in Florida. The following was posted on his Facebook page on March 23rd, 2016:
Brothers-in-Arms and Supporters of the Campaign,
We have one month and one week to raise $10,000. This is for the filing fee so that my name will be added on the ballot in Florida for November’s election.
It might seem pointless to many for a Libertarian’s name to be listed on the ballot. We’re not going to win anyway, so what’s the point?
The point is that many Americans are thoroughly disappointed with the two-party system. You would be amazed at how many people vote for the Libertarian on the ticket simply because he is the Libertarian on the ticket. Tens of thousands, actually.
This helped Adrian Wyllie tremendously when he ran against Charlie Crist and Rick Scott for Governor in 2014. So many Democrats were so upset about Crist, a Republican, pretending to be a Democrat just to run against another Republican, Scott, that they voted for Wyllie out of spite.
Being on the ticket is of primary importance. And that cannot happen without raising the $10,000 to pay the fee.
Now is the time to donate whatever you can. After May 2nd, we will not need much of anything. We will not be running million-dollar television ads, and we will not be wasting money on surveys and fake polls. Our big ticket item is the filing fee itself. So please throw everything you can at this campaign in the next forty days.
Let’s get on the ballot, and let’s disrupt the System in a big way.
Libertas et Imperium,
Augustus Sol Invictus
