After another stellar debate performance, surging Libertarian Presidential candidate Austin Petersen has what it takes to upset Gary Johnson and win his party’s nomination.
While most people in the media are focusing on the potential general election matchup between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, very few pundits are focusing on the race for the Libertarian nomination.
This is important because many disaffected and disenfranchised voters might look to third party alternatives come this November out of sheer dissatisfaction over their limited voting options.
Currently Gary Johnson is polling at approximately 11% of the national vote, a substantial sum not seen since Texas Billionaire Ross Perot won 18.9% of the total votes cast for President. In total, 19,743, 821 Americans cast votes for Ross Perot’s Presidential ticket.
While the Libertarian Party nomination is an afterthought that flies far under the radar of the national media on most days, there has been a recent interest in Libertarian politics in certain national media venues.
