Mathematically speaking, in an even three way race a candidate would only have to receive 33.4% of the popular vote to win the election. Our President is not elected by popular vote, but the Electoral College does vote based on who wins the popular vote in the states. Therefore, to be polling around 30% would put a certain state in play. Gary Johnson has already been shown at 26% in Utah and is polling above 15% in Alaska and Colorado. Now a national poll has found that 32% of all voters would consider voting for Gary Johnson. That’s nearly enough support to make winning enough states to carry the Electoral College a possibility.
