COLUMBUS, Ohio—Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ed FitzGerald will get to debate after all – just not with frontrunner Republican Gov. John Kasich.
FitzGerald and Green Party gubernatorial nominee Anita Rios are scheduled to debate at the City Club of Cleveland on Wed., Oct 22, officials with both campaigns confirmed Wednesday.
The announcement comes after Kasich’s campaign walked away from debate negotiations, making it likely that Ohio’s major-party candidates will not publicly debate for the first time since the 1970s.
FitzGerald campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said other debates and events will be announced Thursday, though she declined to provide details.
